First prize shall be $200 and second prize will be $50. There shall be two first prizes and two second prizes. It is not necessary to attend BCS or be a BCS student to enter and win. This event will also premier the first film made at Balboa City School by Rayad Ayub.

Students desiring to do well in this contest may consider attending the BCS film and media program this summer – or another film and media program. BCS Film School is a 6-week workshop in video technology and creation. Students will learn to analyze what they see in films and videos and then learn the practical skills needed to create videos of their own. The first three weeks are dedicated to a fundamental understanding of film and video techniques and technologies as well as the creation of a 1-2 minute video directed by each student. The second three weeks is dedicated to another 1-2 minute video to build on what was learned in the first part of the workshop. Each student will write, direct and edit two videos using state-of-the-art Canon HD video equipment as well as Final Cut Express on Macintosh Computers. By the end of the workshop, each student will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to better understand and continue making videos.
