In September 2008, BCS received a prestigious grant, Picturing America, America’s History Trough our Nation’s Art, from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association. The grant provides a collection of forty large-scale and laminated reproductions of American Art and educational resources.
For the past sixteen years, Donna Sasso has been BCS’s artist/visual consultant. Donna’s position is devoted entirely to making subjects and ideas visual through art, drama, poetry, writing, and music. We know from experience and with certainty that teaching with visuals is an important multi-sensory learning tool. BCS will be putting Picturing America to good use for years to come.
When you come to visit, look for pictures of American art on display throughout the school.
