How to apply

Prior to becoming part of the Balboa family, each student is evaluated to determine the most challenging and rigorous academic plan. Begin your child’s academic evaluation by applying now!

Domestic students

Follow these steps to apply:

  1. Complete the Balboa School’s Application for Admissions.
  2. Pay $100 non-refundable application fee.
  3. Submit previous grades for elementary students. Submit a transcript for middle school students. Submit a transcript for high school students beginning with 9th grade.

Parents/guardians will be contacted after the admissions team evaluates your child’s application and grades. To begin classes, proceed with the following steps:

  1. Pay tuition & return the tuition contract.
  2. Submit your child’s immunization record.
  3. Submit a copy of your child’s birth certificate.
  4. Download and read the Balboa School Parent & Student Handbook with your child, sign and submit the Handbook Agreement form.
  5. Meet with counselor? Or download, complete and submit course selection?

International students

First time international students follow these steps to apply:

  1. Complete the Balboa School’s Application for International Admissions
  2. Pay $320 non-refundable application fee
  3. Submit a transcript for middle school students. Submit a transcript for high school students beginning with 9th grade. All transcripts must be translated.
  4. Submit your child’s 1 page essay answering the following questions:
    1. Why do you want to study in the US?
    2. Why do you want to study at Balboa School?
    3. What are your academic goals?

The parent/guardian/agent will be contacted after the admissions team evaluates the requested documents.

To receive an I-20 form follow these steps:

  1. Submit a copy of the student’s passport
  2. Submit a copy of financial records (evidence of funds available for the intended time of study for school costs plus living expenses) for the person financially responsible for the student’s expenses while studying at Balboa School.
  3. Submit the Affidavit of Support form completed by the person financially responsible.
  4. Submit the tuition contract signed by the person financially responsible
  5. Submit the student’s immunization record (translated into English)
  6. Submit the guardianship form

On the student’s first day of school he/she follow these steps:

  1. Submit your student’s homestay form
  2. Provide a copy of his/her I-20 form
  3. Provide a copy of his/her visa
  4. Submit his/her official stamped and sealed transcript
  5. Submit proof of medical insurance

International Transfer Students follow these steps:

  1. Complete the Balboa School’s Application for International Admissions
  2. Pay $320 non-refundable application fee
  3. Submit a transcript for middle school students. Submit a transcript for high school students beginning with 9th grade. All transcripts must be translated.
  4. Submit 1 recommendation letter from your student’s current US school
  5. Have the student’s previous school complete the Transfer Verification form and return
  6. Submit your child’s 1 page essay answering the following questions:
    1. Why do you want to study in the US?
    2. Why do you want to study at Balboa School?
    3. What are your academic goals?

The parent/guardian/agent will be contacted after the admissions team evaluates the requested documents.

To receive an I-20 form, follow these steps:
